Signals & Inbound-Led Outbound

4 signal-based outbound lessons from Georgi

Georgi from Signalbase cold-DMed me in March based on a signal.

I'm now a paying customer.

Last week he hopped on a webinar to teach the signal based outbound playbook live.

The 4 lessons that stuck:

1) Signals ≠ intent. And 99% of teams burn their SDRs on the difference.

Signal = contextual. Someone follows Rand Fishkin, watches a video, comments on a post. They're learning, not buying.

Intent = action. Books a demo, signs up, asks for pricing.

If you treat a profile-checker like a buyer, you'll torch your reply rates.

2) There are 3 types of signals. Most operators only run one.

→ Custom: directly correlates with your product. (Signalbase targeting "companies with a database in place." That's literally how Georgi closed me.) → Evergreen: partners, complementary tools, certifications. (Selling Power Automate? Go after Microsoft-stack companies.) → Urgency-driven: capitalize on market shifts. Clay shook up their pricing, Georgi posted on it, the whole landscape exploded.

Almost nobody runs urgency. That's where the alpha is.

3) Never name the signal. Bake it into the copy.

"Hey, I saw you commented under Bill's post" → you're the creep, not the seller. "Congrats on your funding" → fatigued, lazy, dead.

The signal should be obvious to both sides without being cited. Reference the context, never the trigger.

4) The cold-DM formula that closed me.

→ Hook: a question tied to the pain ("How do you keep your data fresh?") → Pain + consequence (manual refresh, vendors reselling, you lose grip on freshness) → Stake of difference (live data stream, no refresh needed) → Cheeky proof / offer driver ("want to see the 5 accounts you missed?" or just screenshot a competitor talking to you)

He sent me a version of this in March. I ignored it. He stayed on it. Persistence works when every follow-up adds value.

If you're running outbound in 2026 and still spamming "congrats on the funding", go follow Georgi Furnadzhiev. He's the one to learn from.

Massive shoutout for dropping the deets on the webinar :)
